‘I decided to join as a volunteer as being a team player and now retired; I looked for a voluntary role that offered me a place within a team environment. I like meeting new people and having the flexibility of having a role that works around my spare time. I work with the Local District Policing Team, a great team who cover a diverse range of policing duties.’

‘I’ve been a force volunteer for about a year, working in two different departments. I retired eight years ago but this has given me something else to focus on. This role really fits in around my family life as I sometimes collect my grandchildren from school. I feel like a valued member of the team and I find the role interesting and enjoyable.’

‘After spending about 24 to 25 years as a special constable, I felt that I still had a lot to give, and to carry on helping the people of Kent. I now work in the Safer Home Store in Bluewater. I work alongside the Crime Prevention Team helping and giving advice to members of the public. I meet all kinds of people and lots of children; educating children at a young age is very important, especially about keeping safe.’
